1. Who we are

Basic Tides supplies research-grade compounds to qualified researchers and laboratories in the United States. This policy explains what personal information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices available to you. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@basictides.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information: the name, email address and password you supply when registering a research account, together with the research-purpose declaration and compliance attestation recorded at checkout.

Order information: the items ordered, order value, billing and shipping addresses, and the order reference issued by our payment and fulfilment providers.

Technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and referring source, collected through standard server logs and first-party analytics so we can keep the site secure and working correctly.

Communications: messages you send us through the contact form or by email, and your email marketing preferences.

3. Payment information

We do not collect, process or store full card numbers. Payments are completed on the hosted checkout of our payment processor, which is responsible for handling card data under PCI DSS. We receive only a confirmation of payment, the amount and the order reference.

4. How we use your information

To verify that an order comes from a qualified purchaser, to process and ship that order, to issue certificates of analysis and documentation, to answer support enquiries, to detect and prevent fraud or misuse, to meet our recordkeeping and compliance obligations, and to send marketing email where you have opted in.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal effects, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Legal bases

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract (processing your order), legitimate interests (site security, fraud prevention, service improvement), consent (marketing email, non-essential cookies) and legal obligation (tax, accounting and compliance records).

6. Service providers

We share the minimum information required with providers who act on our behalf: our payment processor, our storefront and order-management platforms, our shipping carriers, our email delivery and marketing automation platform, and our hosting and analytics providers. Each is bound to use the information only to perform the service we have engaged them for.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a regulator or law-enforcement agency.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in, hold your cart and secure form submissions. We use first-party analytics and marketing cookies to understand which pages are used and to measure advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without breaking sign-in and checkout.

8. Marketing email

Marketing email is sent only to people who opted in during registration or at checkout. Every marketing message carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Transactional messages about an order you have placed are not marketing and continue regardless.

9. Retention

Order and compliance records are retained for as long as required by tax, accounting and product-stewardship obligations, typically seven years. Account records are retained while the account is active. Marketing records are deleted on request.

10. Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, access to customer records is limited to staff who need it, and payment data never reaches our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or ask us not to sell or share your information — we do not sell or share it in any case. Send requests to support@basictides.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

You will not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

12. Children

This site is restricted to purchasers aged 21 or over acting in a professional research capacity. We do not knowingly collect information from minors, and any such information is deleted when identified.

13. International transfers

We operate from the United States and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where information is transferred out of your country, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers under applicable transfer mechanisms.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version published at the time you use the site is the version that applies. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
